I love Christmas, and a diy felt ornament is such a fun and easy project. Feel free to make these any time of year though. I’m always thinking about Christmas and fun festive things I can do to add to my decor for the next holiday season.

This is also a great way to use up some felt scraps. You can make some adorable things with a little scrap of felt. The options are endless really, but you can find some of the felt ornaments I have made below.

DIY Felt Ornament Snowman

For this diy felt ornament:

  1. I traced a canning lid on two pieces of felt for each ornament.
  2. Then I drew and cut out a little snowman.
  3. I sewed the felt snowman on to one of the felt circles.
  4. I then embroidered a little nose and eyes with embroidery floss.
  5. Once I liked how my snowman looked I started to sew the two felt circles together with some yarn. I attached the ribbon to hang the ornament while sewing the circles together.
  6. Before I was done sewing it all together I stuffed the ornament with some polyfil.
  7. Then sewed it up the rest of the way.

DIY Felt Ornament Mitten

For this diy felt ornament:

  1. I drew a mitten shape on to a piece of felt and cut it out.
  2. Then I traced this mitten shape on to another piece of felt so that the two backs would go together.
  3. Then I used the mitten shape to draw the cuff trim onto another piece of felt and cut that out.
  4. I traced this cuff trim onto another piece of felt so that the two backs would go together.
  5. I sewed the white cuff onto the mitten for both sides, and decided to add a piece of ribbon for embellishment.
  6. Once I liked how that looked I started to sew the two felt mittens together with some yarn. I attached the ribbon to hang the ornament while sewing the mittens together.
  7. Before I was done sewing it all together I stuffed the ornament with some polyfil.
  8. Then sewed it up the rest of the way.

DIY Felt Ornament Snowflake

For this diy felt ornament:

  1. I traced a canning lid on two pieces of felt for each ornament.
  2. Then I used some thread to sew beads into a snowflake pattern. (These beads were actually extra from my wedding dress so it seemed that much more special, use whatever you have)
  3. Once I liked how my snowflake looked I started to sew the two felt circles together with some yarn. I attached the ribbon to hang the ornament while sewing the circles together.
  4. Before I was done sewing it all together I stuffed the ornament with some polyfil.
  5. Then sewed it up the rest of the way.

DIY Felt Ornament Home State

For this diy felt ornament:

  1. I traced a canning lid on two pieces of felt for each ornament.
  2. Then I drew and cut out the shape of the home state on a different piece of felt.
  3. I sewed the felt home state onto one of the circles.
  4. I decided to add a button as a fun embellishment.
  5. Once I liked how it looked I started to sew the two felt circles together with some yarn. I attached the ribbon to hang the ornament while sewing the circles together.
  6. Before I was done sewing it all together I stuffed the ornament with some polyfil.
  7. Then sewed it up the rest of the way.

DIY Felt Ornament Candy Cane

For this diy felt ornament:

  1. I drew a candy cane shape on to a piece of felt and cut it out.
  2. Then I traced this candy cane shape on to another piece of felt so that the two backs would go together.
  3. Then I used the candy cane shape to help draw the stripes onto another piece of felt and cut those all out. I did enough to do the back but you do not have to.
  4. I sewed the red stripes onto the candy cane for both sides, and decided to add a button for embellishment.
  5. Once I liked how that looked I started to sew the two felt candy canes together with some thread. I attached the ribbon to hang the ornament while sewing the candy canes together.
  6. Before I was done sewing it all together I stuffed the ornament with some polyfil.
  7. Then sewed it up the rest of the way.

DIY Felt Ornament Heart

For this diy felt ornament:

  1. I drew a heart shape on to a piece of felt and cut it out.
  2. Then I traced this heart shape on to another piece of felt so that the two backs would go together.
  3. Then I drew and cut out another heart from a different color felt.
  4. I sewed the smaller heart onto the bigger heart, and decided to add a button for embellishment.
  5. Once I liked how that looked I started to sew the two bigger felt hearts together with some thread. I attached the ribbon to hang the ornament while sewing the candy canes together.
  6. Before I was done sewing it all together I stuffed the ornament with some polyfil.
  7. Then sewed it up the rest of the way.
